I have not been able to find anything other than that he listed this as his occupation in the city directory.

NJ Brewery??

Hello,
I know this is a shot in the dark but I am wondering anyone knows anyone who worked in NJ breweries in 1965 in the Newark and surrounding areas of NJ. I am adopted and recenly found my biological mothers side of the family. All they can tell me about my biological father is that his name was Leon he was about 21 in 1965(I am searching for a Leon with a DOB 1943 give or take 3 years), he was tall with ?green eyes and light brown hair, English, Irish, and Dutch (?) from the Newark NJ area and possibly worked in a brewery in 1965. He dated Diane Baca.

I do not have a lot to go on so I am just looking for Leon's from NJ.

Thank You For Your Time,
Janine

Hello, cousin,
We share the same ancestry you outlined below. Beyond the lineage you shared from William and Hannah Smith Burleigh, were John, William, John, John, Louise (my Grandmother).

I found your post searching around for background on the Argentine/Uncle Oliver Cromwell connection. Found this:

http://books.google.com/books?id=dphAAAAAYAAJ&printsec=f...

Further support for your search; but I've found little else besides conjecture. Please drop me a note if you have additional information or wish to share further information about the Burleigh line.

PS: I traveled to Scotland last Summer with my Son; visited Burleigh Castle... Google it ;-)
Regards,
Jonathan

James Coffee

I have very little information about my paternal grandfather. His name was James Coffee and he and my grandmother, Lillian Annie Jacoby, had 4 children, I think, out of wedlock (James Edward Coffee Jacoby b. 1921; Reginald Leslie Coffee Jacoby b. 1922; Kenneth Ralph Coffee Jacoby b. 1923 and Peggy Joan Coffee Jacoby b 1927). The father is not detailed on any of their birth certificates except a crossed out James on that of James. From family recollections he worked at the public house on the corner of Euston Road and Sommerstown which I think is the old Rising Sun now known as The Rocket. He had a sister called Ada who either also worked at the pub or was the licencee.
Does anyone have any clues as to how I can move forward in my search as I am completely stuck.
Thanks

Go to Chicago Ancestors, which is a project of the Newberry Library. They have many city directories posted. Here is the link for the one for 1892:
www.chicagoancestors.org/downloads/1892businessa-f.pdf

When the PDF fully loads, go to pages 864, 865 and 866.
Page 864 lists Bottlers, and 865 & 866 list Brewers. There may be some in one listing that are not in the other.

Hello
I have just read your reply ot my query of last year and realise that you are looking for A. Allen in Halesworth, do you realise that my gt gt gt grandfather Samuel Field married a Ann Allen first and had I think 4 children, 3 of whom died perhaps in infancy and then she must have died because he then married Jane Fulcher of Halesworth and my gt gt grandfather James came from that union.

I wonder if your A. Allen is the father or brother of his Ann Allen?

Seek fellow descendants of English village beer brewer, Oliver Cromwell; uncle and namesake of Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protecter of England. I descend the brewer's descendant, Mrs. Argentine Cromwell Ross, by her New England, USA, marriage 11-28-1662, to Benjamin Cram, Sr.; by their son Benjamin Cram, Jr., who 12-30-1666, wed Sarah Shaw, and had Charity Cram who 7-25-1728, wed Josiah Smith, Sr., and had Mrs. Hannah Smith Burleigh. Argentine is an old family last name; but I do not know how it fits in with the Cromwells?

I think I saw your name as the only known descendant in America of the Claus Stockburger line of descent. A number of years back Claus traced several lines of Stockburgers into America including his own. Tradition is that all Stockburgers descend from Peter Stockburger who in 1450 took the name Stockburger to indicate the place of his birth in Stockburg and went into the Upper Kirnach Valley a litttle over three miles from Stockburg. Are you aware of another line of Stockbergs who came out of Sweden. Can you trace your line to Peter and have you correspomded woth Claus? Any help on the Swedish line would be appreciated.
Brewery in Rottenburg am Neckar, Germany?

My great-grandfather Jacob Stockburger (1856-1928) was a brewmaster at the Eagle Brewery in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. His brother Christian was a brewmaster at the Catasauqua Brewery in the same borough. Family legend has it that Jacob brought the recipe for the beer with him from Germany. He immigrated about 1880.

Jacob's immigration papers state that he was from Rottenburg in Wuerttemberg, which is now Rottenburg am Neckar, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Does anyone know of a Stockburger who may have worked at a brewery in Rottenburg am Neckar about 1875-1880?
