David Neefus, Jr., father of Lester Neefus, of Ross place, who died at his home, 20 Lyon place, Elizabeth, this morning, was in his sixty-fifth year. Although Mr. Neefus has been in failing health for the past two or three years, his death came suddenly about 7 o'clock from an attack of apoplexy.
Mr Neefus was born in Flatbush, N.Y., July 19, 1847. His business experience was in New York and Brooklyn. In 1873 he married Miss Annie Lot, and in February, 1874, they moved to Elizabeth, and have since occupied the home in which Mr. Neefus died.
Mr. Neefus, for fifteen years or more, was secretary of Resolute Council, No. 808, Royal Arcanum, and resigned only when his failing health had made it necessary for him to be relieved of the duties of his position.
He had been assessor in the Tenth Ward, Elizabeth, for twenty years. Formerly he was in the meat and produce business, but for the past few years he had been the manufacturer of a patent egg carrier. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Lester W. Neefus, of Westfield, Raymond C. Neefus, of Canon City, Col., and Wilbur L. Neefus, Elizabeth, and one daughter, Miss Edna D. Neefus, of Elizabeth.
