AUSTINTOWN, OH – Russell D. Semchee Sr., 81, passed away late Saturday evening, June 23, 2012, his 61st wedding anniversary, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

Russell was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio a son of the late Mike and Mary Zingil Semchee, and was a lifelong area resident.

Russ was a graduate of Scienceville High School (North), and retired in 1982 as a materials handler from Packard Electric after 17 years.

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Youngstown. He was also a member of the Cortland Masonic Lodge for over 40 years, was an avid golfer and loved to garden and to cook.

Mr. Semchee leaves his wife of 61 years, Theresa Mikolaj Semchee, whom he married June 23, 1951; four sons, Russell D. Jr. (Cheryl) Semchee of Hermitage, Pa., Richard Semchee of Austintown, Mike A. (Theresa) Semchee of Austintown, and Kevin Semchee of North Jackson, Ohio; a daughter, Karen R. (Dennis) Christy of Austintown; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Russ will be truly missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Mariah Andrews and Madison Semchee; three brothers, Thomas, John, and Harry Semchee; and two sisters, Helen Woloschak and Irene Bobersky.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 28, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m.
