My name is Marshall Wren, and I am a descendant of William, the brother of your Thomas. Thomas was born Thomas Rann, on 15 Nov 1804 in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland and was Christened 18 Nov 1804 at St. Quivox and Newton, Ayr, Scotland. They were the children of William (Wren) Ran (born abt. 1766, England) and Agnes Kerr (born I believe abt 1768, Monkton, Ayrshire, Scotland). William and Agnes were married 26 Feb 1791. They had a total of 8 children.

I would be happy to share any and all information I have of William and Agnes's descendants, and would be happy to learn of my Western Canada cousins.
