Nelson passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in
Austin,TX. He was born May 12, 1925 in Pflugerville,
Texas, the only son of Edwin and Alvena Bredthauer. He grew up in
Austin, attending
Austin public schools and graduating from Stephen F. Austin High in 1942. He was a member of the
Austin High
Maroon Band and attended the University of
Texas. Nelson entered the Army Air
Corps as a cadet in 1943 and graduated from Bombardier School in 1945 as a 2nd Lieutenant. He went to work for Louis
Shanks Furniture Co. in 1947 and retired in 1985. He married Lucy Jo
Mills in 1951, who preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by his son Charles
Mills Bredthauer; two granddaughters, Ashlie Ann and Amanda Lynn Bredthauer; and a nephew, Kyle English of Phoenix, Arizona. Nelson was an active member and former president of the
Senior Golf Association of
Austin. He was a long time member of First United Methodist Church and
Wedding Ring Sunday School class. Services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at
Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home. Burial will take place in
Austin Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jack

Stahl, Pat Peyton, Keith Pool and Ron
Wile. Honorary pallbearers are: Cora Lee Hughes, Cornelia Teasdale, Nelda
