McCord, Harvey Marvin
EDGEWOOD TX - Memorial services for Dr. Harvey Marvin McCord, 85, Edgewood, TX are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Church in the Wildwood at Heritage Park, Edgewood. Arrangements are with Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home, Edgewood. Dr. McCord died Sept. 6, 2006, in Grand Saline TX. He was born March 7, 1921, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Harvey Raymond and Marcella Wurster McCord. He grew up in Cincinnati where he graduated from high school. He served in the Navy and graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. He moved to Dallas, where he opened his practice. He was a member of Tyler Street Methodist Church in Dallas TX for many years, and later moved his practice to Wills Point, TX also working one day a week at Terrell State Hospital. He retired in 1990 and attended Willow Springs Missionary Baptist Church near Edgewood. Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Jeanette Sims McCord, Edgewood; sons, Mike Jones, Beaumont, and Bill Jones, Edgewood; daughters, Sally Grimes, Toler, Jenny Kennedy, New York, N.Y., and Peggy Bickel, Edgewood; sister, Janet Ryan, Wills Point; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at their residence.
