Sept. 26, 1907 - April 30, 2004 Arnold Austin Jensen passed away on April 30, 2004, at his residence near Lexington, Texas. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, May 7th, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, Texas. He was born on September 26, 1907, in Lee County, Texas, to Thomas and Anna (Thompson) Jensen. He married Eunice Mae (Going) in 1930, and they lived in Lee County most of their lives with the exception of 18 years on his ranch in Freer, Texas. They moved back to Lee County in the early 1950s. A self-employed rancher all his life, he enjoyed working his cattle, telling his famous stories and reading. A life long quest of knowledge kept him young, a life spent outdoors kept him fit and his sense of humor kept him going. He rarely missed the weekly cattle auctions and a chance to visit with friends and neighbors. He was quick with a joke, quick to help others and a true friend to count on. He was preceded in death by: parents, Thomas and Anna Jensen; wife, Eunice M. Jensen; grandson, Joe B. Richards Jr.; brothers, Ray and Oman Jensen; and sisters, Velma Going, Mildred Sanders, Fae McMurrey and Audrey Stanton. Surviving relatives include: daughters, Bobbie J. Sigle and husband Leroy of Taylor and Shirley C. Richards and husband Joe Sr., of Lexington; brother Vaughn Jensen of Rockdale; sister, Edith Barry of Houston; grandchildren, Lisa Richards of Austin, Suzanne Townsend of Bastrop, Rick Richards of Round Rock, Tony Sigle of Waco and Teresa Clements of San Antonio; and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Allison Finder of Austin, Casey and Joe Arnold Richards of Austin, and Bailey, Reagan and Reece Townsend of Bastrop. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lexington EMS, Lexington, TX 78947.
