Sylvia B. Burgess, born April 4, 1947 to Martha and Frank Burgess of San Antonio, died on Sunday, February 29, 2004.

Sylvia battled MS for 22 years and fought fiercely until the end. She faced it with courage and handled it with grace.

She was a member of the University United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her parents; sister, Gayle and husband Dr. Richard Longoria; nieces, Jennifer Japhet and Alexa Longoria; nephew, Jeff Japhet; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A reception will follow the memorial service at the church.
