In Loving Memory

Mr. Stanfield was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ for the past 50 years where he at one time held the position of church president. He was also a 58 year member of Sedalia Elks BPOE Lodge 125 and the Sedalia Country Club. He was recognized as Board Member Emeritus for outstanding service to T.P.A. Post -F. where he had been a member since October 3, 1944. Mr. Stanfield attended school in Sedalia and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1936. After graduation he became an optician with OK Optical until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Stanfield was an avid golfer and gardener.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Stanfield, of the home; a son, Dr. Bernard M. Stanfield Jr., and his wife, Chantal, of Pinehurst, N.C.; two daughters, Brenda Stanfield, and her husband, Bernard Cuddy, of Cambridge, Mass., and Denise Prather, and her husband, Richard, of Lee’s Summit; a stepdaughter, Jo Riddle, of Lee’s Summit; a stepson, Raymond Dickey Jr., and his wife Elizabeth, of Everett, Wash.; three sisters, Betty Lou Dugan and Jean Berry Dick, both of Sedalia, and Mildred Grimmer, of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren, Ryan Stanfield, Amy Stanfield, Brent
Stanfield, Breigh Stanfield, Rachel Stanfield, Sean Stanfield, Sophie Stanfield, Sam Cuddy, Ben Cuddy, Meghan Riddle, Lauren Prather, Matt Prather, Ray Dickey III, Larry Dickey and Chris Dickey;16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Vivian Pierce; a brother, Kenneth Stanfield;,and an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Immanuel United Church of Christ with Pastor Brady Abel officiating. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt Prather, Ben Cuddy, Sam Cuddy, Richard Prather, Bernard Cuddy, George Dugan, John Berry and Tom Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be Meghan Riddle and Lauren Prather.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006 atHeckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel.

Bernard Marion Stanfield, 87, of Sedalia,MO died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born August 20, 1918, in Pilot Grove,MO a son of Albert and Bessie Meredith Stanfield. He married Marie Trent, who preceded him in death. On March 3, 1956, in Sedalia, he married Ruby Semkin Dickey, who survives of the home.
