We are running out of ways to positively confirm that a young man who lived near Lochinver in 1861 (he's on the 1861 census but not the 1871) is the same man who signed up and emigrated to Canada (the same name is signed on a Hudson's Bay Co. contract June 5, 1861, with the additional info that he was from Lochinver). So as a long-shot, I'm wondering if I might find a newspaper of the time which mentioned his leaving.
