This is an article which I found in The Times of Monday Feb 7th 1927: Members of the crew of the Clyde Shipping Company's steamer Sheerness, which was wrecked on Thursday on the Tuskar Rock, were for some eight hours at sea in open boats. One boat was picked up by the steamer Kingston, a welsh collier, and the other was able to land near Cahore Point, Wicklow. All the survivors are well, but the chief officer, John McDaid, was drowned. I couldn't find any further mention of the ship or of any award of medals.

Hello there,
I am tracing my Grandfathers merchant naval career and he appears to have been on the Sheerness when it sunk in 1927. I would be very interested in any information you have managed to find. His name was Allan Cameron.
