Hi there. I am trying to locate the name of the local newspapers in the Bergen County, NJ area for the time frame of the 1920s-1940s basically.
I am trying to track down an article related to my Great-Grandfather. Rumor has it he killed a guy in a bar fight and that's what led to his divorce and placing my grandmother in an orphanage when he went to prison. I Haven't found any prison records, having trouble with the newspapers.
Was hoping maybe a local NJ reader may be familiar and could help out.
His name was Vincenzo Siragusa but he went by James Siracusa (the name got changed when he came from Italy). It could also be spelled Saragusa, Saracusa.
If this happened, he was old as hell, he was born in 1859 and died in 1937. I believe the incident may have happened between 1930 and 1933.
I'll take any ideas or direction! Thanks!
Billi-Jo

Thanks for the link!
I've used that before in the past without any luck...Thanks for the link though. I'll check again. I'm actually heading to the archives soon to pull prisoner records...that should finalize the evidence necessary to say he did or didn't.
THanks!
Billi
