Digan is the anglicized version of the Gaelic name of O' Duibginn. This is a very old Irish family name. One source for this info. is a book by Rev. Patrick Woulfe. Another source for this info. is a book by Edward MacLysaght. Robert Matheson also mentions it in his book. I have been researching this name for about six years. If you would like more, I'd be glad to send you what I have. The Irish have volunteered for Wartime battles all over Europe.
