Glad to see the board!! Two of my lines were members of Old 300, Martin Allen & William Pryor. I am trying to prove that Burk Trammell that died at the Alamo was William Pryor's brother in law, brother of his wife, Betsy Trammell.

Other members of family fought at Battle of Baxer and San Jacinto.

William B. Travis sat with William Pryor's body the night before he was buried in San Felipe on 10 Sept 1833.

In his diary, Travis noted spending the night at the Allen homestead called Eight Mile Point. He was lawyer for the Allen's often.

Wonderful to see this new avenue to explore the story of Texas Independence! While my folks arrived in Texas just a little late for me to join the DRT, I have a lateral connection to Jim Bowie of Alamo fame, and I was born and reared in the shadow of the San Jacinto Monument (Wooster/Lynchburg area). I'm on the Battle of San Jacinto Symposium Committee and we held our 9th annual meeting in April. I'll be sure to alert the group as plans progress for the 2010 symposium. In the meantime we invite you to join us. Take a peak:

My ancestor, Joseph Rutherford, fought at the Alamo and I think at Goliad. There is little that we know other than he left Ft. Jessup in LA to join in the TX fight. I've heard that Crockett wrote home about him and others, but I have never confirmed nor seen this letter. Have you heard of it?
