Thomas Hunt & Catherine Cox : 1847 Wagon Train

I am looking for any information that anyone might have on Thomas Hunt and Catherine Cox coming to Oregon in 1847. I have no knowledge of where they started their journey or even if they came with family members. I know that there were other Hunts and Coxs on the same wagon train but I am not positive that they're related.
Also, I know (from the Catholic Church records) that Thomas Hunt came to America in 1845. I have tried to find him on census' but haven't had any luck. The church records also mentioned that Thomas Hunt was born in Kilkenny, Ireland and that his parents were Thomas Hunt and Margaret Roche.
But, on a recent trip to Ireland I was told (in Kilkenny City) that they had no records of any kind on the Hunt family. It was suggested that Thomas may have meant Kilkenny Townland which is in western Ireland.
Anyway, I was hoping to find other ancestors of the Hunt family, so I can try and put the pieces together! Thanks!

I just went on and saw your post. My family on my mom's side were descendants of the Hunts and Angells. They came from Georgia. I have a little information but my uncle in Idaho has much more.
They settled in a town called Izee, Oregon near John Day. I have pictures of the ranch. Not much there today except a couple big ranches.

Go to http://www.oregonpioneers.com/1847.htm Scroll down to find Thomas Hunt, m arried to Catherine Cox in 1851. Unfortunately no more info given. He and Catherine are on http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Hu...;. Note there is also a younger Thomas Hunt there--born a few months before Catherine died. He isn't easy to trace--if you have a subscription to Ancestry.com he is listed in the card catalog under "Genealogical information in Oregon donation land claim"s book. I found him but didn't have time to follow through and locate his claim. Maybe someone else can do it. He died in Gervais, Oregon and buried in a Catholic cemetery so his claim is probably there or nearby He was born 1823 died 1890

Surnames: Hunt
Hi Nicole- I am a descendant of the Hunt family from County Kilkenny. Our Hunts originated in Muckalee and Kilmacow, both very small villages outside of Kilkenny City. Our great-grandfather, James, was born in 1833 in Muckalee and his father's name was Thomas but we haven't been able to find out any more about his birth as the parish register was destroyed in a flood. However, it is possible that your Thomas may be our James's brother. James went into the British Army for twenty years and was posted to Crimea and India.
Hope this helps.
