My Mom was a RANEY, many of my maternal ancestors were from Martin Co, IN, Washington Co, KY, PA, and Maryland.
My ggg grandparents were Jeremiah RINEY RANEY and Mary Joan SHEEHAN MOORE from southern Maryland. They were part of the Maryland Catholic movement to Washington Co, KY in the late 1790's.
Their children were Elizabeth Hester RANEY CROOKS, Sarah Ann Matilda RANEY TEWELL, John Felix RINEY RANEY m. Mary O'NEAL, Jonathan RANEY m. Patsy BECK, possibly Alexander RANEY, possibly Ann RANEY m. Julius JOHNSON, my great-great grandparents James Virgil RANEY and Mary Helen HOLLAND. He was born in Washington Co, KY in 1809. She was born in Ireland in 1820.
My great-grandparenst were John RANEY and Martha JOHNSON. They were both born in Martin Co, IN, and had 11 children, many of whom stayed in Indiana.
My grandparents were Homer Thomas RANEY and Mary Dot McCORD. They were both born in Loogootee, IN, married in 1905 in Daviess Co, IN and most of their 11 children were born in the Kansas City area.

My paternal gg-grandparents, James SAUSE and Elenor STOKES were born in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Do not know who were their parents. They married in Ireland and came to US with their family around 1838.
Their 6th born, Michael SAUSE was my great-grandpa, married in Daviess Co, IN in 1852 to Margaret DOWNEY (daughter of Matthew DOWNEY and Ellen CONWAY of Ireland). Michael and Margaret SAUSE had 9 children in Indiana.
Their 8th born was grandpa Matthew Marcellus SAUSE married Mary Margaret BRADLEY in 1900 in DCI (all of my SAUSE ancestors were born in Ireland, and all of them ended up in Daviess and Martin Co, IN)
Grandparents Matthew and Mayme SAUSE married in Indiana, had 7 children, some born in St. Louis area and others in Kansas City. (Austin Michael) Fr. Bernard SAUSE, William Marcellus SAUSE, Leo Bradley SAUSE, John SAUSE, my Pop Matthew Joseph SAUSE, Marguerite SAUSE LESTER CLASSEN, and Patrick Michael Aloysius SAUSE. John died young, Leo and Austin did not marry, Bill did not have children. Other 3 married and had children, grandchildren, etc.
My parents had my brother and myself. We are both married and both of us have married children and grandchildren.
I grew up in Kansas City and live in Iowa.
