Sarah Jane Woods Coker --AL to Texas Late 1800's or early 1900's
My grandmother (age 92) told me that her grandmother lived in AL -Marshall County and her husband died and was buried near Diamond, Marshall Cty, AL She then moved to Texas with her boys and is buried there. Sarah Jane Woods Coker and her husband were originally from South Carolina. My grandmother said that she has a marker at her grave in Texas but she cannot give me any idea where. She said family members have gone there and came back to Alabama and told her that they visited her grave. I need any information on where to start looking.

I thought Sarah Jane went to Texas but Sarah Jane Woods Coker is buried in Alabama. Her mother whom I am not sure of her first name went to Texas to live when her husband was killed. Mrs. ______ Woods is buried in Texas. Mr Woods is supposedly buried at Diamond Cem. Marshall COunty and Mrs. ____ Woods is buried in Texas, My grandmother said that family members had travelled to Texas and found her grave and marker but she is not sure where. I am sure this is the same family I am researching.

I am a decendent of Joseph Coker. There is a Coker Settlement in Texas - it is now part of San Antonio, Texas. You might check with the Coker Methodist Church San Antonio Texas and I believe there are some Coker family websites available as well. Good luck

Re: Sarah Jane Woods Coker --AL to Texas Late 1800's or early 1900's
Sarah Jane Wood(s) married Doctor Lee Coker and they are buried in Brashiers Chapel cemetery in Marshall COunty AL Sarah Janes' father, William Wood, is supposedely buried in Diamond cemetery near Warrenton, Marshall Co AL . When William died, his wife, Elizabeth (Wheatley) Wood moved to Montague TX and died in 1903 leaving behind small children. She is buried in Montague cemtery. I would say that William died in the late 1890's as children were born after 1895.
