I am writing my family history - I've been researching for over 30 years, and writing the book for over four. I've been looking at different publishers - Penobscot; Otter Bay; and No-Waste. Tennessee Valley is not publishing any more.
There is a lot to consider - binding, size of book, formatting, etc.
Would like to exchange thoughts, ideas and information with others.

I would be interested in what you learn as well. I would like to have a few things published, but so far am having a hard time finding someone. I have something that will be around 2000 pages, I know it will be in a couple of volumes, but so far the people that I've contacted are not getting back to me.

I am just beginning to try to figure out what to do in terms of publishing. My local UPS store will print it and bind it.But that means I will have to print out all my indiv.reports of which I have tons of pages on many ancestors. So is it possible for places that copy and make the book like UPS or FedEX copy store to print from a gedcom file? Let me know what progress you have made. Gloria

Gloria, I'm sure that no local store will be able to process a GEDCOM for you. They will be able to print .pdf files and .doc files. It will be up to you to compile your book which most programs will do for you. You'll need to think about what format you'd like your book in and how large you'd like to make it and go from there.
Which genealogical program are you using?

I have Family Tree Maker 2012.I don't have it all on here. I have over 250 surnames and approx.100 (guess) with individual reports - some are lengthy.I have only done ancestors (not the living)with the help of a researcher and a few visits to Germany. I will probably print it out myself and take it to the UPS store for copies and binding.Have considered doing some of the printing on ancestry but need to read more about it. What program do you have? I am also thinking of storing several copies of it on a flash drive and CD. thanks for writing.Gloria
