You can keep them in a bank safe-deposit box, but make sure it's at the top of the room. I heard of one person whose stuff was in a big box on the lowest level when the town had a flood. Theft- and maybe fire-proof, but probably not flood-proof.

Unless you can seal everything in plastic.
