Transcription of Uploaded Document
Hello, I have a question about the transcription field of an uploaded document (photo). I realize this field is plain text. Is there any way to preserve line breaks when entering transcribed text? It's very unreadable when I enter the text, save it, then it shows all run together.
Thanks!

Re: Transcription of Uploaded Document
I don't think so - though I haven't tried, recently. In the past, I have tried to separate form fields with double-slashes. For example:
Name: John Smith // Birth date: 1 Jan 1900 // Birth place: New York, USA.

Re: Transcription of Uploaded Document
Do you mean here at Ancestry or some place else? I've never added any transcriptions to Ancestry so wouldn't know if that's the case.
I can think of two possibilities that might work. The first is to try and use the combination ALT+Enter keys, in some places that forces a hard carriage return. You could also try typing it into a plain text editor, like Notepad, and then copying and pasting.
If it's for something on your home computer I would create a plain text file and name it the same as your photo. Maybe add the word transcription to the file name.

Yes, I mean here at Ancestry. If you choose to set the upload type to Document, it gives you a field to transcribe the text. I've been typing transcriptions for some documents for a scrapbook I'm making, so wanted to add them to my tree documents here. I've tried the suggestions of Alt+Enter and copy/paste and unfortunately it doesn't work. I was hoping there was something I was missing but it appears there isn't a way to do it.
