"Left issue" what does that mean?

I keep seeing the phrase "left issue" in genealogy reports and historical documents. What does that mean? It seems to be followed by the name of the next generation in the hierachy, so I am assumeing it means left an heir, or had children. See attached file. Please help, because if I am assuming wrong, then my Tree is wildly inaccurate. Thanks in advance!
