Pattie, my bother has RP, too; ours is supposed to be X-linked, as only the males have it, receiving the gene from their mothers. The woman who brought the gene in was a Nancy Porter, b. 1831 in PA, married William Powell. Nancy's son was blind, and her daughter Hulda had a blind son, and at least 3 of her daughters passed it down. My g-g uncle was the last to have it in my family untill my 35 - yr-old brother was diagnosed almost two years ago. I do not know Nancy's ancestors...yet.. I am working on this. Do you know which type your brother has? You can email me directly, unless you have other genealogy material others would like to read. I live in Michigan. Carol Carlson
