hi:)

Im looking for the carrier of RP in any of the above mentioned surnames. My brother has it,and we cannot trace its origins. We are from Massachusetts and County Leitrim, Ireland.

Thanks, Pattie

Pattie, my bother has RP, too; ours is supposed to be X-linked, as only the males have it, receiving the gene from their mothers. The woman who brought the gene in was a Nancy Porter, b. 1831 in PA, married William Powell. Nancy's son was blind, and her daughter Hulda had a blind son, and at least 3 of her daughters passed it down. My g-g uncle was the last to have it in my family untill my 35 - yr-old brother was diagnosed almost two years ago. I do not know Nancy's ancestors...yet.. I am working on this. Do you know which type your brother has? You can email me directly, unless you have other genealogy material others would like to read. I live in Michigan. Carol Carlson ectjcarlson@aol.com

HI Carol

Two of my six brothers has RP - X-linked. My tree is small, and I'm not very polished at doing searches. I can let you have access to my tree, maybe we are related somehow.
