I too have multiple spots. They are called café-au-lait spots. They are seen in patients that have Neurofibromatois (NF for short). Not to cause anyone alarm, but you need to have a certain number with certain dimensions.

My daughter (8 now) has this same trait. Left “blue” eye has brown spot/line from pupil to lower part of blue in eye. Symmetrically vertical.

Characteristics; strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes. She is very tall for her age.

My wife and I are her biological parents.

Family Ancestry:

My father’s father is Latin (from Cantabria--Arredondo, Spain); hence our last name.
My father’s mother is Mexican (Michoacán, Mexico)
My mother’s father is Irish/Scottish (Clan Wallace)
My mother’s mother is a Jewish Cherokee Indian from Chattanooga, TN (5th generation)

Wife’s father is Latin (Cuba – 2nd generation; migrated to Florida in late 1800’s)
Wife’s mother is Latin (Asturias, Spain – family arrived in Florida in mid 1900’s)

Royalty? Well, we have a city in Spain and a city in Florida named after my Father’s Family so…who knows. LOL

Please feel free to email me: iqfsu@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Tony
My husband was born with the same mark on his lower back, he was adopted from balize and is Mayan. It turns out that Mayans have this birth mark that fades away as they grow into adult hood. His is not fully gone and I remember his mother telling me they had to carry a note from the doc explaining the mark.
it seem's pretty prevalent in east asian and native american (descendants of Mongolians who crossed the Bering strait) races.
I'm Korean, and it's pretty much expected for a baby to have it. I remember my sisters' and my little blue marks on our butt cheeks, though I can't remember how big they were. mine disappeared age 5ish. my cousin was born with a fairly dark brown 1cm spot. don't know if this is related or runs in the family.

Hi kenneth, I was doing some research on sectoral heterochromia and your post came up. I have the same conditions, right blue/gray eye with a large brown spot (dark brown hair with olive complexion - but some curls) - for my aunt it was very prononced. My daughter has green eyes with a central light brown ring - central heterochromia. All my aunts have light gray/blue eyes. I am a twin and it runs in the family.
I come from north west of Brittany, in the north west of france - a celtic region with its own dialect (very close to welsh) : I have done some genealogy research: Boul'ch - origin is from wales, cornwall or scotland on one side and Rosec on the other - unkownn) . It has also been documented that this part of France was under strong scandinavian influence, and today Bretons are still a rather closed community (loads travellers & sailers) i can send a pdf. Aby other info is welcolmed,

I'm Finnish and so are my parents.
My father is pure Finnish, but my mother has got some relatives in the States and Sweden.

If anyone has information on this condition, please let me know!

Hi All: My daughter was born with a caul over head and body if I remember correctly. The doctor said it was a sign of intelligence and she has grown up to be very intelligent. I never heard about the water connection or spiritual side of it but she is and was a joy to behold as she was a natural born swimmer (long legs and torso). As for intuitiveness I couldn't really agree on that one.

I am also of native american heritage from my grandmother. I descend from the cherokee. Interesting enough I have always wondered but I to was born with a birth mark on my back instead it is in the shape of a swan. I have always been told in my family that swan shows some significance to my family personally because my great grandmother's name meant swan. I don't know if it means anything else, I've had it since my birth and it's still there in a visible shape of a swan.

Interesting. I have 2 sons with this mark and we are of German decent, both my husband & I. Perhaps way back in the 1200's when the Mongolians invaded Poland our blood got mixed. More likely there's Native American in there somewhere.

I was born with those and then they faded, apparently my cousin was born with them, too. The doctor said it may have to do with Mediterranean heritage, I have also red they can happen in the Hungarian population or Jewish population.
I have thus far seen no clear cut scientific evidence of how they occur. I have 2 out of three of those in my backround and my cousin was 1/2 Sicilian and 1/2 Italian.

These flat birthmarks can be deep brown, slate gray, or blue-black in color. They do sometimes look similar to bruises. The edges are often, but not always, indistinct. They are most common on the lower back and buttocks, but are often found on the legs, back, sides, and shoulders. They vary from the size of a pinhead to six inches or more across. A child may have one or several.

At least one Mongolian spot is present on over 90% of Native Americans and people of African descent, over 80% of Asians, over 70% of Hispanics, and people of African descent, over 80% of Asians, over 70% of Hispanics, and just under 10% of fair-skinned infants (Clinical Pediatric Dermatology, 1993). Despite the name, Mongolian spots have no known anthropologic significance, except for being more common in darker-skinned infants.

Mongolian spots are nothing more than dense collections of melanocytes, the skin cells which contain melanin, the normal pigment of the skin. When the melanocytes are close to the surface, they look deep brown. The deeper they are in the skin, the more bluish they look. Either way, they are not related to bruises or any other medical condition. They do not predispose to skin cancer or any other problem.

Mongolian spots are present at birth, and most of them fade (at least somewhat) by age two. Most have completely disappeared by age five. If Mongolian spots remain at puberty, they are likely to be permanent. Fewer than five percent of children with Mongolian spots still have any by adulthood. Those who do tend to be the ones with multiple, widespread spots, or with spots in unusual locations.

If you google mongolian spots under images you'll see what they look like.

I hope this helps.

Yes, I was going to say.....the Mongols' DNA pretty permeated the entire globe way back when the Strait of Bering was still land. They fought and conquered. they are even reputed to have invaded and settled in Northeast Brazil, where the natives have almond shaped green eyes, and dark skin.

My understanding of the Mongolian Mark, (this came from my doctor after my daughter was born with one) is that those who are from asian decent have it. Through DNA testing they have found that Native Americans from the Southern part of North America and those born in Central and South America have the same ancestors as Asians.

I had a sister born in 1945/late on nov. 28th. she was a 10 mo. baby. she was due end of oct. she was born 10lbs to boot and had a caul/veil over her face. My Dad & his mom/my grandmother who lived with us til I was 10yrs old told me about it. I was born in Oct. 1958...eerie coincidence I now see. I read her birthday astro and mine and I am HER in so many ways! Her chart was Saggie/moon in Gemini/rising sign Libra like me! My chart is LIBRA/moon in Gemini/rising sign Taurus the Bull. They say that families have astro characteristics the same and it is true! My bro is a Gemini. His moon in Gemini. My Dad was a Libra like me, his Moon also in Gemini, my Mom...well she is a cappie, with her Moon in saggie, and rising of you can guess? LIBRA! I did not have a caul...but, I believe I may have received hers thru family connections? can that be? reincarnation perhaps? I have believed in reincarnation since I was 18. I read many books about it including "zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance". Now, the freakiest part...I am more psychic than my mother...who is definitely psychic, but she has shut down the gift. My Dad made so much fun of it and of her calling her a witch...that she tuned it out! I began having psychic phenom when I was a teenager and culiminated in my saving my boyfriend's life by/with a premonition when I was 22. I knew his motorcycle was going to wreck and that he would be killed if he did not wear his helmet. I forced him to and when off he went against my wishes/my best advice. He thought I was NUTS to say that he was going to crash and that I had seen it in strong vision. so, he did and I knew when it happened to him...the moment it happened I had a dark cloud descend over my body/my mind/
my head entirely. I raced off and knew where to find him... it was all so clear~! The accident scene was a nightmare for me. he was OUT and the paramedic told me that his helmet had been torn from his head and w/out it, he would have DIED for sure. He hit a tree full frontal and broke his cheek and sustained a major concussion. He was SO LUCKY and he never really ACKNOWLEDGED what I had done for him! He did then...but we are still friends 28 yrs later and now he says it never really happened? He blocked it all out evidently! Then I had another freaky preminition in 1993 that actually came true about a tornado hitting a walmart store near where I was working at the time. I predicted via the info in my mind, the actual location, the zig zag of it, the products flying off shelves and the people yelling & screaming in fear and in pain. I saw how many would die. I told my friend it would be 5 or 6. We discussed my calling 911 or something? We decided they would think me MAD and not believe me and draw bad attention to myself. So, I stayed quiet. We watched on the local news the aftermath of what I had seen in my mind...oh yes, it was REAL, it happened 10-15 mins. after I saw it and 5-6 peeps perished. The pic of the walmart showed a zig zag like swatch thru the store. MY PAL was shocked and so was I! I told my now hubby about it...he laughed me off! I now think that it has psychic conatations as my mom is so, and she named me the same name as my sister when I was born 13 yrs. later! 13 is a magical number...not a bad, unlucky one~! Jesus was the 13th...any numerology book explains this. I had a spiritual dream when I was 18...very uncanny and it has predicted my entire life in an unusual way. I know I am blessed in some fashion to experience thru her eyes maybe? She died the next day of spinal bifida. I was ANGRY when I discovered thru MY DAD that I had been named the same? I ran away for the night/next day...I just could not look at either of them. The implications were unsettling to me! I had been a deep thinker, a poet, a writer and a rebel! I loved nature to the extreme. I loved CAMPING! I had so many saggie traits as a kid and I still do~! I always believed myself more of a dec. gal than an oct. gal. I love red~ I love purple. But I don't admit that to most. My Oct. chart says I love blue and green and I really do love them too! Sometimes I feel like 2 gals in one body. but oct Libra has two sides from all that I have read...a man side, a glam side too. And I do. She would have also being a Libra risin.
It is a big revelation for me. I have had many pyschic stuff happen to me. I am very intuitive and size up peeps even better as I age. I am now 50. I READ people like a book and I have read countless books~ My IQ is close to MENSA...I made straight A's in college. My dad was MENSA. I have so many famiiy analomies...from my Mom's side...that some psychics have said I've been cursed. I laugh that off. My Mom had a mentally challenged brother, all alcoholic siblings, a Mother who drank and smoked ciggies when it was not DONE in the day...and she carries the R factor/blood clot disease, she carries a gene for a tumor to grow on the kidney which she had later on her life and she lost a SIS to it and it went undiagnosed til she developed it and her DOC qued her in to what it was...genetically carried down. My daughter almost died at 19 of R factor, my 53 yr. old bro almost died of R factor last month in hospital. My Mom has almost died of 1 time...but had it happen 2 times. I almost had 1 last yr. in June...my Dad died in June. Maybe I am making up coincidences but I don't believe I am. I have had without any doubt to my friends and family many occurances of spiritual activity around me. I don't see or hear anything, but I see the aftermath of MOVEMENTS. I have almost drowned too when I was 5, but MY DAD taught me how to swim, had me take formal lessons and he knew I was prone to drowning or being accident proned too. I have had several car mishaps, my bro almost killed us when I was 15. I knew it was going to happen. I WARNED him several times. I just would not listen to me~! He knows today that I predicted that accident and as he lost CONTROL of the truck, I was yelling at him...SLOW DOWN...we are going to hit a tree and we did...sideways and rolled 3 times over an embankment. I broke my nose and cut me forehead. He sustained no injuries at all other than sore muscles. We both were very athletic teens...he was a senior in HS when he totalled my Dad's truck and I went on after learning to drive to sustain many near fatal car crashes that I SAVED myself thru divine intervention. Oh yes. I fell asleep at 4am when I was 17 and almost hit a tree dead on. I woke up by a whisper in my ear and heard gravel crunching, to have the wheel turn for me to the left and side-swipped the tree instead~! I never even braked the car going 45...I floated into a 4 ft. ditch and floated right out of it~amazin...! I was spared...by somebody...I felt like an angel saved me~ I have had that feeling many times when I have had near car crash misses. I laugh at my friends now and tell them I won't drown or go by auto...that won't be my demise. Now I have a disease that I got from my Dad...have had it for 8 yrs. now...that will surely be my downfall. I know SHE would have been ultra special had she survived...but, if I have just a piece of her within me than that accounts for all the mysticism and spiritual happenings around me! What do you think...I have had many many life pyschic moments where I have been right and sometimes wrong~but, I felt them all deeply. LIKE 911 tortured me...I saw it in my mind
I felt it in my heart and soul...I CRIED ALL DAY! It was senssation overload for me~ I shut it down for years after. Now, I want to reinvestigate my gift and help others w/it!?

I was born with a bear paw birthmark on my forehead between my eyes. About two centimeters big. It faded away around my late teens.

Yes, Mary. I am 27 years old. and I've began seeing these white hairs around 17. I have very thick healthy hair mind you and lots of it. when I was about 23 it progressed. They're white and not grey. Very strange. But no one's hair color is the same color. I've always have somewhat a blackish/brown color.

Re: Mongolian Spots
Mongolian Spot

Alternative Names:
Mongolian blue spot, child fleck, sacral fleck, newborn blue fleck, newborn sacral blue fleck, Semitic mark, Semitic stain, congenital dermal melanocytosis, dermal melanocytosis
Mongolische Flecken (G), tache mongolique (F), mancha mongolica (S), Moukohan (J)
Forms:
Mongolian spots are blue, bluish-gray, bluish-green or blue-black flat skin markings that appear at birth or shortly thereafter during the infantile age. The edges are usually indistinct and the shapes are irregular. The sizes and the numbers are various.
Distribution:
Mongolian spots are mostly located at the base of the spine, on the lower back and buttocks. They can also appear on the shoulders, upper back, arms, wrists, legs, ankles, lateral abdomen and elsewhere. Palms, soles, face and head are usually spared.
Variants:
1) Persistent Mongolian spots are larger and have sharper borders. They may persist for many years.
2) Deep blue Mongolian spots are deeper colored and have sharper borders. They may persist as long as persistent Mongolian spots.
3) Ectopic Mongolian spots or aberrant Mongolian spots involve unusual areas such as the face or extremities.
Incidence:
The prevalence of Mongolian spots varies among different ethnic groups according to the overall depth of pigmentation. Mongolian spots are common among Asian, East Indian, and African races, but rare among Caucasian and other races. Reported incidences in representative ethnic infants are as follows:
Asian: 95-100%, East African: 90-95%, Native American: 85-90%, Hispanic: 50-70%, Caucasian: 1-10%
Causes:
Mongolian spots are caused by entrapment of melanocytes in the dermis during their migration from the neural crest into the epidermis in fetal development. Microscopically dermal melanocytoses are seen in all newborn babies irrespective of race.
Differences in the number of dermal melanocytes may cause the racial variation.
Prognosis:
This may help answer your question, it was posted by a dermatologist.
The bluish discolorations usually fade after a few years and almost disappear between age 7 to 13 years. Therefore, no treatment is required in most cases.
Differentials:
Blue nevi, nevi of Ota, and bruises should be differentiated.
Occasionally, Mongolian spots are mistaken for bruises caused by child abuse. Careful observation by a specialist will easily allow differentiation.
It is important to recognize that Mongolian spots are birthmarks, NOT bruises.

I too was born with a caul on my face.I was born in a "holler" in the Appalacian Mountains of Tenn and my Mom said when I was born neighbors came from all around to see me.They all believed I would be a "wise woman" who could do special things,as see future and "read" what people are thinking.I do not deliberatly try to do anything of the sort, but have had some bizarre experiences nonetheless.I do know I have had a markedly blessed life and Thank God daily for that.My large extended family feel I do indeed have some sort of powers, even Jokingly calling me a "good Witch",but I think it is mostly age and experience!Interesting though!
