When I was little half of my stomach from the waist down had this birthmark that looked like a brown coffee stain, or at least that's what my Mother called it, it disappeared as I got older . But when I gave birth to my first daughter she was born with the same birthmark but her's extended farther down her thigh, her's has never disappeared. Is anyone familiar with this type of birthmark?

I have one of those as well, located on the side of my lower left leg. It's like a magnified version of the tiny one in the palm of my left hand... Mine has always been faint, but it's a little more noticable when I'm out in the sun a lot. I have no children and, to my knowledge, no one else in my family has one like it.

I myself do not have a birthmark. My oldest daughter (who is 7 yrs) has this "coffee stain" type of birthmark on the outside area of her right knee.

When my other daughter was born (she is now 2 yrs), I noticed she has the same exact mark, on the SAME EXACT location on her RIGHT KNEE!!! It's not as dark as her sister's but it is the same mark!!

Can anyone explain this strange scenario to me?! I'm just amazed that both my daughters have the same birthmark in the same exact location.

Thanks!!

I have a birthmark, the same as your daughters, on my right thigh and on the top of my right foot. I guess they get it from Gene's side of the family.

I too have multiple spots. They are called café-au-lait spots. They are seen in patients that have Neurofibromatois (NF for short). Not to cause anyone alarm, but you need to have a certain number with certain dimensions.
