Looking for a medical school in Richmond in 1820s-1830s. Joseph E. White was said to have graduated there.

There is Medical college of Virginia, but in the 1820's it may not have been called that...so check with them any how...as they should be able to tell you...you should be able to look them up on line! good luck...I am trying to find a medical school in Vt.1840's!? My ggggrandfather was Dr. Thomas Porter b. approx. 1825, possibly Vt. and is said to be educated in Vt. I have yet to find out where! Carol

I checked page 45 of the 1958 edition of the American Medical Directory.
University of Virginia School of Medicine: not in Richmond.
Medical School of the Valley of Virginia: not in Richmond.
Winchester Medical College: no city named. Was active 1826-29 and 1850-61.
Medical College of Virginia: in Richmond. Org. 1838 as the Hampden-Sydney College Medical Department.
Randolph-Macon College Medical Dept.: not in Richmond.
University College of Medicine: in Richmond, but not org. until 1893.

My great grandfather was a physician in Kentucky around Flemingsburg in the mid 1800's and I would like to find out where he was educated.
