medical education in 1820-30 in nc
My great grandfather Harvey Conner was listed as a Dr. in 1880 mortality list in Chickasaw Co.,Ms.He died in Feb 1860 from a hernia problem. All census states he was born in NC.Could anyone tell me of a medical school he could have gone to. I have been looking for him and his people for 40 years and still can't find him.Thought if I could find a school they might have info on him.I KNOW THIS IS A LONG SHOT

Did you get any response to this posting. My great-great grandfather Jesse B. Covington was a Doctor in Louisville, MS. He was born in Rockingham County, NC in 1811, and came to Louisville, MS in the 1940's. Like you, I am curious as to where he would have received his medical training.

Have you tried Harvard? I have a great, great grandfather who graduated from there in 1712 with a medical degree (information founds by my Aunt in her research.) I would imagine that the school would have records of graduates. Mine may be a long shot, but it's a place to try. Good luck!
