Hello
I am trying to piece together events that occurred in the fall of 1781/ spring 1782 time frame. Captain Donald Cameron and Lt Archibald Cameron of the King's Carolina Rangers (Col Thomas Brown) held full officer positions in the fall of 1781. In the last muster roll for them dated spring of 1782, they had been demoted to Lt and ensign respectively. This was after the death of Alexander Cameron, Indian Agent, who had died in Savannah in late Dec 1781. Captain Donald Cameron indicated that he had been a friend of Alexander and his executor.
Has anyone read through the military correspondence of the time or have any idea why the demotion happened or how these two men were related to Alexander McLeod, alias Cameron the Indian agent?
Thanks
Kim
