Surnames: Gordon,Shippy,Maynard

Family records show my 3rd g.grandfather, John Gordon, served in North Carolina during the Revolution under Lt.Col. McLeod and served again during the War of 1812 with his sons Michael, Aaron and John. His dau. was Sarah (Gordon) Shippy. Any info. regarding John's wartime rank and regiments would be most appreciated.
