Hi Lora,

I'm looking for any reference to my gr gr gr gr grandfather, Moses Lutz who was supposed to have been born in Toronto in 1795.
I've seen a reference to a Samuel Lutz and Michael Showers and Harmonious House as early settlers of the Settlement of Niagara in 1782. The names Showers and House intersect my family later down the line.
I'm trying to find a connection between Moses and Samuel et al. Do you have any mention of them?
Thanks so much for your offer.

Found a Sen. Michael Showers deceased in the Home District File 7, Pg 9. Found a Dan Lutz in the Eastern District, File 3, Page 40. Found a John Lotz in the Midland Dist, Part of Marysburg German Soldier. Found a Sampson Lutz also in The Home District, File 7, page 6. There is a footnote...spelling variants include Lutes/Louts.The Home Distrist, formerly called the Nassau District consisted of the territory between lines drawn north from the mouth of the Trent River and the top of Long Point on Lake Erie. This large district included Lincoln, York, Northumberland and Durham counties and part of Oxford and Nofork counties. The original district town was Niagara and it was replace in 1801 by York. In 1800 the Niagara region was separated and formed the Niagara District, with Niagara as the district town. Niagara was earlier known as Newark and now called Niagara-on-the-Lake.

hi Miriah,
I've been searchingfor the parents of Moses Lutz on and off for 30 years. I found him listed in a newpaper in Upper Canada. The Upper Canada Gazette. He was an attendee at a meeting. I think he was probably a Loyalist. He later moved to Indiana and married Mary House. I have lots of documentation on him after he is in the US. But I've been stumped where it comes to his parents. at one time I thought it was Sampson, but can't remember why. Have you found them??? I don't know how old your post is. Most of my ancestors prior to the Revolution lived in Pa and Va. I will check the Loyalists there for clues.
