Hello,
I am looking for my lost family history which goes back to Mexico but due to some family stories this history can only be traced back 4 generations from myself due to my Great Grandfather Guadalupe Munoz. The story goes that in Mexico something bad happened but his children nor himself would ever tell the story of what happened and have since taken that information to their graves. Apparently, after this thing happened in Mexico my Great Grandfather Guadalupe (as we knew him) crossed over to Texas and lived out his remaining years with his wife Herminia and their kids. The family story goes (as those still living know it) that upon his immigration to Texas Great Grandpa Guadalupe stole his brothers name (changed it from Pedro to Guadalupe) and then took the last name "Munoz" (possible names mentioned were Renteria and Gonzales) and took that identity the rest of his life. The problem is no one else knows what his family last name when in Mexico. It's said he had a brother but know one knows where the family came from and without a true family last name no one knows where to look or who to look for. The only possible trace of information going back to Mexico is his wife who, per the family story, never changed her name. Her maiden name was Herminia (Erminia) Mines Beltran. The only 2 documents I have been able to find showing some possible true information going back to Mexico is the US birth certificate of one of their children showing "Guadalupe" Munoz as the family with Hildago Del Parral, Chihuahua Mexico as his birth place on 12-12-1887 and the mother as Herminia Mines Munoz with the birth place as Rio Florido, Chihuahua, Mexico on 1-20-1889. I have tried to search both but came up with nothing on either in Mexico. For all I know these could also be made up birthdays as no one living in the Family knows the true story of what happened in Mexico or the true family name. All I know is that the crossed over from Mexico about 1914 and made it to San Angelo, TX by 1920 as a US census lists them in San Angelo, TX
If anyone knows the family in Mexico or can give me any additional information on how to finds this long lost family in Mexico please respond to this thread. I would love to find the family and be able to trance the family tree back further than 4 generations.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Michael
