Here is his father's obit:
Mendocino Beacon (CA) - January 15, 2004
Deceased Name: Calvin Arnold
Calvin C. Arnold, longtime resident of Fort Bragg, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004. Born on Feb. 3, 1925 in Okmulgee, Okla., to Clarence and Eva (Matney) Arnold, he was 78. Minister Bryant Hopson officiated at his service on Jan. 7, noon, at Rose Memorial Park, giving hope of the Resurrection.

Calvin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1946 he married Shirley Fuller and the couple moved to Fort Bragg. He worked at the local lumber company until he retired. He loved the music of Bob Wills, Merle Haggard and Hank Thompson and played in a local band in the mid-'60s. He was an avid collector of coins, bottles, baseball cards and ashtrays. He could often be seen walking downtown, wearing his blue baseball cap and blue jacket, with his best friend, a Fox Terrier named Tinker II. He was a kind and honest man. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. He would say, "How're you walkin' shadow?" "We're walkin' like you, dad. We love you."

He is survived by his children, Cheryl and Wayne Goins of Bakersfield, Denise Arnold of San Francisco, Zack Arnold of Bakersfield, Billy Fuller of Huntington Beach; grandchildren, Myra and Skip McCuan of Merced, Calif., Wayne Atkinson of Merced, Cary and Charlotte Atkinson of Bakersfield, Roy and Sheila Iversen of Bakersfield, Jared, Kaetlyne, Ayreika and Jauslinn Arnold of Bakersfield; and five great-grandchildren of Bakersfield. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Carlene Arnold of Lancaster, Calif., and sister and brother-in-law Clara and Ralph Fisher of Okmulgee, Okla. He also leaves behind his longtime companion, JoAnne Souza of Fort Bragg, and her four children, Johnny, Larry, Gary and Candy.

Memorials are suggested to the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 222 Alder St., Fort Bragg, CA 95437.
