Ancestor hit it big in gold rush around Nome Alaska in 1890's. Had a gold brooch made for his wife. It was like a large cameo but instead of a lady's profile it had a huge "G" engraved on it. I have a photo of it showing it being worn at the base of the neck. One of the daughter's inherited it and when the Great Depression hit she ended up selling it. She was living in Clark County WA at the time. Her father and one sister were across the river in Portland OR.
