Hi, My grandmother's half brother's daughter had that picture of Asa McCoy and his wife Eleanor Burriss (Burruss)

I desend from Asa's son Andrew Boyd McCoy (1837-aft1900)
he married Elizabeth "betsy" Ann Rutherford (1836-1928) who was a desendant of William I "the conqueror" King of England (1028-1087)

they had 9 children and their 8th was Lydia McCoy my father's mother's mother.
I will try to get the picture to you this week.
If you know of any info from Lydia's line let me know, thanks.

I'm looking for information on Asa McCoy's wife, Mary Jane Shortridge. I'm unable to locate her parents or any information on her ancestry.

Hello,

I have found on several Ancestry.com family trees that have been posted by others that Mary Jane Shortridge McCoy died in 1942 in Wayne County, West Virginia. I don't know how accurate that information is though.

You might try obtaining her death certificate from West Virginia and hopefully her parents will be listed on the record. Also, you could try to locate an obituary for her in Wayne County that would hopefully have her parents listed.

Hope some of this helps. If you need any other help you can contact me at my email address below.

I thought you may be interested to see the History Channel's 3 day special on the Hatfield and McCoy families and their history.

If you go to this web page you will see the details about the show when it starts how many days it will be on etc. It will be starting on Memorial day.

If this link does not work just go to the History channel and the information will be there.

I have no relationship to these families...but they were an interesting group of people.. Karla
