How do you document "Indenture Servants" believe Buffalo, NY, USA
I understand Elizabeth GALLOWAY came to the USA as an indentured servant, have no idea to what family she served, just that it should have been between 1880/1884. She was from Ireland or Scotland have not yet been able to document for sure which. She married William Henry FARR whom I believe was born 7 May 1859, Hamilton, Hamilton Twp., Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada (son of James FARR and Mary Ann STEVENS, both born England) and between 1892/1895. They settled in Buffalo, Erie Co., New York, USA. Would love to figure out for sure when she came to the USA and what family she served.

Do you know the time between your ancestor's arrival and her marriage? It's quite possible she skipped out on her service. I know that two of my female ancestors from Ireland who were supposed to serve "a year and a day", married men they met on the ship and never served any time. They arrived in Quebec, and lived in Buffalo. I don't know how ethical that was, but it was done!

Here is what I have for information... She was born Scotland 1 Sep 1868. US Federal Census records her to have come to the US between 1880-1884. I assume she married the year before her first child born about 1895.

Re: How do you document "Indenture Servants" believe Buffalo, NY, USA Don't believe this to be mine Elizabeth...
Time periods don't really match, because I found her listed in the US Federal Census for 1900, 1920, & 1930. Immigration should be before 1884.
