Hi. There is Ispas village in Ukraine. It is situated in Chernovtsy region, district of Vizhnitsa. It is located on the bank of mountain river Cheremosh.
I have two variants of Nicolas Emil name: it can be name Nicolas and Emil - is the name of his father. When we call people in Ukraine we use name with father name and surname.
If you know name Of Nicolas father and it is not Emil - It can be double name Nicolas-Emil - sometime we use this form of name.
Lena - is Ukrainian name, short form for Olena.
Best regards.

Surnames: Kalynovich, Suranovich
I just returned from Holovetsko, zip 82641, as my grandparents came from the village. I ate dinner in the birth home of my grandmother (built over 120 years ago). Kalynovich relatives still live in the 3 room home, and I was able to meet other relatives who still live in this village. It is a small village with two graveyards. The older one is next to a rebuilt church - the original one burned down three years ago. There is also a "newer" graveyard. Many of the grave markers are simple crosses, with no identification.

Hi Dima - My great grandfather was Iwan "John" Slepko came from Tysowice per the records at Ellis Island and he always told people he was from Stary Sambor. He arrived in the US in 1908. My understanding is they are the same place. He was born in 1883 to Mikolaj Slepko and Anna Kijak. There we several children, Iwan, Anton, Alex and a few others. Any help you can provide on this family would be of great help. We know nothing about Mikolaj or Anna Kijak since they never came to the US..

Thank you in advance.

Hi.
I am able to do research for Slepko surnames from Stary Sambor in Lviv archive (central archive for west Ukraine) to search metric books and death records. Probably I will find maps of landowners from that perriod in village.
