Having a hard time finding anything about John Archibald prior to 1859. He married Indian Hook on Jun 1859 in Baltimore Maryland, but on the 1900 census it says that he has only been in the United States for 40 yrs and it says that he was born at sea, but I cannot find any naturalization info on John, I stuck, any suggestions would be helpful, please.

Re: John ARCHIBALD of Baltimore, MD, USA 19C
Can you give us any idea of when he was born?
Why do you think he was Scottish?
Does the marriage certificate give any information on his parents?
What was his occupation at marriage?
Thanks

John Archibald was born January 1833 at sea. He is of Irish descent. He died 15 December 1906 in Baltimore. He married Indiana Hook, 7 June 1859 in Hookstown, Baltimore, Maryland. She was born November 1835 in Maryland and died 28 January 1921 in Maryland. They are the parents of eight children (born between 1860-1875) that I am aware of.
