My 'Palatine' great (x many) grandfather arrived in Philadelphia in 1740. I do not think that any descendent has ever looked for information as to his birthplace, other than "the palatine area". As he came to America later than the more well-documented Poor Palatines to New York in the earlier part of the century, I am unsure as to how to begin a search for him in any of the germanic areas of Europe.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
