My name is Dawn Wanvig Carpenter, and I think I may be distantly related to Martin. My grandfather's name was Roy O. Wanvig. I have just returned home from my first trip to Norway, where I met a distant cousin who is very interested in finding out any information you might have regarding Martin's descendants. He has written several books detailing the genealogy of people from his village in Norway (he showed me a photo of himself with the King of Norway, receiving a medal for his many years researching). His name is Arne Habjorg, and I sent him some information I found on the Ancestry.com website that people had posted about Martin. He has been trying for years to find out about him- he thinks maybe he was a dentist? He does not speak much English, but has a daughter and two sons who do. I have been using google translate to correspond with him so far. He is a lovely gentleman- he took me to his home near Trondheim and introduced me to his charming family. He retired early at age 40 to work on this genealogy project and he would be thrilled to find out any information you might have on Martin and his family. I have also attached a photo of myself with Arne and his wife Tordis (I think that is how it is spelled) in their home near Trondheim.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and please let me know if you would like contact information for Mr. Habjorg.
You can contact me at dawnskers at live dot com if you would like any more information- I can send you some of the genealogy he has compiled to see if his Martin Wanvig is the same one that has been written about on this site.
