I am looking for information about my grandmother, Jensine Katrine Fredriksen, born the 10th of July 1879. She was born in Tangen, Drammen in the East of Norway. Her parents were Paul Kristian Fredriksen and Jakobine Gundersdatter. She had 7 siblings: Fredrike Matilde Caspara, Pauline Gustava, Gunda Marie, Fredrik Bernt, Margrethe, Kristian, Jenny Christine and Kaia Henriette.

As an unmarried woman Jensine gave birth to my mother, who grew up with Amalie and Martin Hamborg also living in Drammen.

The 8th of June 1906 Jensine went with the ship ‘Oslo’ to Liverpool. And then by the ship ‘Saxonia’ she arrived in Boston, Massachusetts the 21 of June 1906. She as her given name she only used Jensine.

In the ships papers it says that Jensines uncle , Gunder Gundersen, (Jensines mothers brother) living at 1200 North Irving Avenue, Chicago, paid the tickets for both Jensine and Elisabeth Dehli (Born 1884). According to the papers they were both to work as servants.

Jensines uncle was from Holmestrand, Norway. He used to be called Gunder Gundersen, but I believe he changed his name to Gun Gunderson after moving to the states. He got married to Hildor, born in Christiania (now the city is called Oslo) and had the two children Julia and Ella.

Two of Jensines sisters had in 1903 gone to America. In hope this will help in my quest to find out more about my grandmother I will give some information about them too.

Jenny Kristine Fredriksen , born on the 29 of December 1876. She went from Christiania (Oslo) with the ship ‘Hellig Olav” (translated saint Olav) the 22nd of October 1903. Her final destination was Minnesota, and she arrived in New York the 2nd of November 1903. She was traveling to her friend Lovisa Andersen.

Kaia Henriette usually only used the name Henriette Fredriksen. She was born on the 21st of November 1881. In her ship declaration papers it says she was born in 1883. She traveled with the ship ‘Hellig Olav’ on the 10th of September 1903 and arrived in New York the 20th or 21st of September 1903.

Henriette was traveling with Amalie Jensen (born 1868) and her two children, Regina (1898) and Birger (1899) They were all to settle with Amalies husband in Chicago.

I would greatly appreciate any information anyone could give me about my grandmother. And hope someone out there knows who my grandmother married, if she had more children and where they settled.

Sincerely
Aagot Anette

I have ready your comments. I don't know if our lines acrossed as you mentioned 7 siblings Margrethe Gundsdatter born 7 July 1815, born in Eiker and died in Drammen but I do not know about her siblings just yet but it may be this one. Her husband is Alf Nilsen from Skoger, Vestfold born 18 Dec 1814 is my linage. Her 3 daughters Nicoline, Gerhardine and Martine. Most of my ancestors from Drammen, and Buskerud districts.
I am a little knowledge about it. I would like to know more about this if our line meets correctly
