Hi,
Your query didn't really have enough information for a good online search of the Norwegian internet records, but I did search the emigrants for Oslo, and I found a Johan Kasper Ingvald Bakkelund (what a name, usually they didn't have middle names)
Anyway, he is emigrating from Olso on Sept. 1925, he registered at the emigration on the 12th, and then his travel date was the 15th, it says on the ship Stavanger Fjord. His destination was Canada, but could have gone anywhere from there. His occupation is listed as farm worker, and his birthdate is listed as April 23, 1902, from the parish of Vestre Toten, which is located in the Norwegian State, or Fylke of Oppland. It says he is emigrating from Oppland for a better opportunity. Unfortunately, the most recent online census data is for 1900, and he was born 2 years later.
Here is the website where you can see the emigrant list for Johan Kasper Ingvald Bakkelund:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=n&...He was listed as unmarried, but on the chance that he might have met his wife on the ship, since there were so many emigrants leaving that day on the 15th, I kept looking for the name and I think I might have found her. Instead of Reta Christopherson, which is quite an "Americanized" spelling, I did find this woman:
224489 Oslo 1925 Septbr. 14 15 Hilma Margretha Kristoffersen f ug (fabr.arb) 16051906 Torp Væsternorrl. Canada Svensk Pas 415 Henriksen Stvr
Leaving Oslo, also on the ship Stavanger fjord, having registered to leave on Sept 14, and then actually departing on Sept. 15, 1925 is Hilma Margretha Kristofferson, (in Norwegian and Swedish the th sounds like a t. So their might be a chance this is her. Her birthdate is May 16, 1906, and she is traveling with a Swedish passport, going to Canada. It also says she is an unmarried factory worker, and had just lived in Torp, Væsternorrland, which is in Sweden, Vasternorrland is like a state or province in Sweden. The correct spelling of Vasternorrland has two dots over the a in Vaster.
Now you need to find out if these two people are your relatives, by checking for more information where they ended up emigrating to, did they stay in Canada, do the birthdates match or are very close?
the Johan Kasper Bakkelund looks like a good match if the dates correspond. The Ingvald part of his name on the emigration record is most likely the patronym, meaning his father's name plus -son or -sen. I do find a family on the 1900 census of Vestre Toten parish in Oppland Norway living on the Bakkelund farm there, and the father's name is Ingvald, and the children who are born at that time have a first name and a middle name and then the Ingvaldsen or Ingvaldsdatter part. So this could be Johan Kasper's birth family:
http://draug.rhd.isv.uit.no/ftsoek/ftsoek.asp?kommando=boste...Census year: 1900
Municipality: Vestre Toten
Municipality number: 0529
Name of domicile: Bakkelund
Number of persons in this domicile: 5.

The father Ingvald is a worker and a tenant farmer at Bakkelund.
It is possible to find someone on the internet that has a farm and family history book for Vestre Toten area of Oppland. Specify the Bakkelund farm, and the names and dates for the person you want looked up.
The farm I would suggest looking at is main farm number 221, subfarm number 31.

Here is another lookups volunteer for Toten:
Kari Toomey, email:
karit@tiplimo.comThere is a little confusion in the name. The Bakkelund farm is listed as a subfarm (subfarm number 6) under the main farm, (farm number 70) called Nesterud in Vestre Toten. But there is also a farm called Bækkelien in Vestre Toten. So I'm a little confused if the spelling changed, or the dialect or whatever.
Here's another page showing the likely family for Johan Kasper Ingvald. Bakkelund:

http://genforum.genealogy.com/norway/This is a good page to post the Bakkelund query of Johan Kasper, because people from Oppland look at it:
http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Norway/OpplandAnd this is a good page to post for the Swedish woman, if her dates matched the one I found in the emigration from Oslo the same date as Johan Kasper:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/sweden/And also try posting a Swedish query here:
http://smultron.com/demo.htmlAlso try spelling it Västernorrland, where she was from.
Try emailing this woman for help, I see that she is helping people with their queries, maybe she knows Sweden (better than I do, my specialty is Norway)
