Surnames: Didgeon Valentino
I am researching my grandmothers family and her maiden name is Valentino, her mothers maiden name was Didgeon. Both surnames are said to be from Italy on all records I have found. I am not having any luck with the Didgeon surname and its origin. any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Did your Didgeon great grandmother immigrate as well? Best to locate as many census records as possible as it will help locate a passenger list.. or at least to see if she married in Italy before she came over...

Yes, on all the census records it says she was born in Italy and then came to America. I am not sure when they were married and her name was changed. I was told that the name Didgeon was not Italian though, so I feel lost on her search. All of the children have passed now and the only information I have is her name on birth certificates saying Jenny Didgeon. How would I find out more?>

I do see a 1930 Census record that matches the 1925 Census

Home in 1930: Huntington, Suffolk, New York
Street address: Broadway
Dwelling Number: 16
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1930usfedcen&a...
Dominick Valentino 40
Antoinette Valentino 15
Frances Valentino 13
Patsy Valentino 12
Caroline Valentino 10
Marie Valentino 6

Here's a military record of a Domenico Valentini - born in Crecchio, Chieti, Jan 7, 1889

Does this appear to be him? From Huntington...

Yes, they were from Huntington. I have that census added as well but as you see, Jennie is not on that one giving me a clue she died between times but I have no other information on when, where, or so on. Any idea on how to find anymore information on her? I also had a smaller version of a draft card added to him, but the site you listed has his birthdate which I never knew! I also was getting confused by all of the name changes/ spellings of his first and last names. Even his children seem to have all spelt their maiden name (Valentine or Valentino) non are consistent. Thank you for the assistance! greatly appreciated.

Do you have the 1920 Census record.? I does appear that she died from 1925-1930... Do you know where Domenico was buried? linking the 1925 census here for reference.. http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=19...

Where did the "GiGeon" information come from.. was it told to you .. or found on a record? Didgeon would be something like DiGian..
