I own a set of THE FAMINE IMMIGRANTS which lists 675,000
Irish entering the US at NEW YORK between 1846-1851 If you have family that arrived about that time, drop me a line with name, age, and names of people that might have traveled with them and I'll take a look for them.

Al,
How generous. I am looking for any info on the following:

Stuart Ferris
Wife Bridget Ferris (Laverty)
John Ferris
Wife Eliza Ferris

I believe they came through New York about that time but have been unable to find much info at all. Your help would be appreciated.

Terry,
What I've been doing is great fun when I have a HIT, finding ancestors for someone, especially when they have been searching for years. Having said that, I looked through all seven volumes but without any luck. I found a John & Eliza together but they were probably brother & sister because they were 10 and 12 years old.
Sorry,

I thank you very much for your time. They had to take a boat at some point, I probably have the dates wrong. Again, I certainly appreciate your time.

Patricia,
There are many, many John McKennas so I cannot pursue that name without more information. What was the reference to the year 1846? Was he born then? Came to the States then?
----------------------
I looked for John McKanna and found this;
----------------------
Ship SOUTHERNER arr at NY from LIVERPOOL on April 10, 1847 Aboard were;
MCKANA
John (21) Owen (40-Father) Pat (17-Brother) Rose (20-Sister) Cathe (13-Sister) Many(12-Brother)
Hope this helps

Eliza (d) 1838 "
Joseph (s) 1840 "
John (s) 1844 "
Nathaniel (s) 1848 Penn
Mary A (M) 1790 Ireland

This is from the 1850 Federal Census for Phila, Pa Federal Census.
I do not know if they came into New York or Phila. Since there son Nathaniel was born in Pa. I suppose they came around 1848. I would appreciat for a lookup.

Ellie,
I happened to see our earlier correspondence and it appeared that I never answered you. Here something that might be of interest
-------------------
Thhe ship CORNELIA arrived at NY from LIVERPOOL on June 12, 1848 Aboard were;
GORDON
Abraham (28-Farmer) Mary (28) John (10mo)
The similarity of the names are probably a coincidence
Also with another group of Gordons was a 15 year old Nath.

Surnames: Murphy
Hi Al,

Here's the Murphy family I've been researching. They had a daughter born in Ireland in 1850 and a son born in Pennsylvania in January 1852. So they came to USA between those times. Traveling to USA would have been.

William Muphy age 30 in 1850
Esther Murphy age around 25
Ellen Muphy age 1

Thanks for your help
