I have wonderful audio file of my Grandfather and his Markiel family history. He tells of coming over around 1908. The family was detained because of my grandfathers eyes and sent to England not back to Poland. My great grandfather then arranged for passage to Canada. In Canada, he arranged to swap train tickets from some Americans and entered the country.

While I can't prove it, the name Markiel show up in numerous Jewish references but never back to my family. I cannot find any trace of them in Poland. I also looked for a Catholic conversion to avoid persecution which was popular to do.

I am really at a wall with this side of the family.
