Looking for information on a mutiny that occured on board the "Champlain" sometime in 1845 in the Atlantic, I believe it was the same ship that docked in Philadelphia on June 3rd. 1845.The mutiny was stopped and the guilty party was sent off in Maine. It was a passenger ship from Liverpool.
Thank you.
Tom

Hi Tom
On Newspapers.com I located a newspaper - Public Ledger Philadelphia, PA published 1836 - 1861. The ship sailed about once a year to Philadelphia in 1838, 1840 - 1843, 1845 - 1848. No voyages in 1839 or 1844. I could not find any record of a mutiny on board the "Champlain" but other mutiny's did occur. I found only a record of a man arrested for smuggling see attachment. Note the attachment is dark. Date June 23, 1840 also see 3 other attachments one an advertisement for the ship and two reports of damage.

Hi Tim, thanks for that. I seemed to find my own answer to this, I believe there were 2 different ships with the same name, one was based out of Cork Ireland and the other was from Liverpool to Philadelphia. My mom's family sailed on the latter.
Thanks again.
