Robison/Abbott?

Surnames: Robison/Abbott
Hello. I'm looking for information on my second great grandfather, Joe Robison. As the family story goes, Joe immigrated to the U.S. with his family from Ireland. He was between 4-5 years old at the time. As I have been told, Joe's mother and father died on the ship on the way over. I believe he had two sisters that were taken in by women in Maryland. It seems that Joe was taken in by a farmer who mistreated him. Joe ended up running away and working on the Robison farm, where he became part of the family and adopted their last name. Years later, after Joe died, his sisters found his wife May (or Mae) Robison. We believe his original given name might have been Abbott. Just a shot in the dark, but looking to see if anyone has information on Joe and his family.

Hi Ashley
Any idea of what year they may have immigrated ? A search of Castle Garden from 1850 to 1880 for Joseph Abbott Country of Last Residence - Ireland shows 4 matches see link
http://www.castlegarden.org/search_02.php?m_ship=&po_por...
For Joseph Abbott AGE: 8 the ship's manifest shows him and his father.
For Joseph Abbott AGE: U ( unknown ) infant the ship's manifest shows him and two older brothers also two older sisters and their mother but no father.

We think that he may have been born in 1877. If he were 4-5 years old, which I'm not certain of, when he immigrated, I think we are looking at after 1880. Thanks again for the help.

I found possibly 2 matches for Jos. Abbott
1 - Age: 7 arrived Port of Boston 31 - AUG - 1888
2 - Age: 11 arrived Port of Philadelphia 12 - FEB - 1887

Questions:
1 - Do you know what state the Robison farm was located?
2- Have you located Robison family in a census ? If so what year.
3 - Do you know his two sisters names?

I spoke to my grandmother again tonight. We believe the Robison farm was in Arkansas. My grandmother can't remember the sisters names, but we know that they lived in Baltimore, Maryland. I have been able to find Joe, May, and their children in the 1920 census, but it seems that Joe has passed by the 1940 census as May is widowed in that one. Thanks again.

Hello, you did not mention the state for the 1920 Census I assume it was in Arkansas. I found a Joe Robison in the 1920 Census living in the town of Richland, Co. Crawford in the state of Arkansas along with his wife May and there 5 children ages 3 to 16. In the 1940 Census she is a widow. On the census Joe Birthplace: is listed as ARKANSAS not IRELAND and his Mother's and Father's Birthplace as ARKANSAS, Joe may not have remembered his parents from Ireland or because of his bad experience with the farmer who mistreated him he just decided to adopt Arkansas as his Birthplace and his parents - Robison - also.
I believe the following information is for the death of Joseph Robinson Oct - 10 - 1926 see Link:

As for their marriage the link below will take you to a list of a possible two matches even though they were performed in a different county,
