Many thanks for the offer to help. You were spot on. After lots more searching I have found they made not one, but two earlier exploratory trips to the US before finally emigrating for the husband, the Rev Thomas Cresey (or Creasey or Cressy),
to become a minister in the United and/or Methodist church in Vermont (I think).
