HELP please me decipher the handwriting....

I wonder if another set of eyes would take a look at a manifest at ellisisland.org for me to help me decipher what an individual I'm researcing stated was his place of birth (the last column, #29).

Name: Josef Czubaszewski
There will be one hit for this individual.
He arrived Dec 11, 1912 on the Noordam from Rotterdam.
He is on row # 29 of the list.
The information from this manifest is split into two pages (pgs 704+705).

I think the location he stated as his birthplace says, "Olaszliszka." I think this place is in Northern Hungary. Am I reading this right or is it something completely different.

Thanks for any all all help!!

Rebecca,

I found the ship manifest and the literal script looks like Olizuska
or Olizusha. Your interpretation should be on the mark - I believe the town is in the county (?) of Zemplén, northeastern Hungary. I'm not sure if it is known as a county, regional area or province.
Looked up your spelling under "Place" search at http://www.familysearch.org and found the following -

Good luck in your further research.

Hi Rebecca,

I know that you posted your message quite some time ago, but I wanted to tell you that I am helping a relative from the Czubaszewski family in Poland with the family tree. The manifest you mention for Jozef Czubaszewski has been transcribed according to what the transcriber saw on the ships manifest, but in fact Jozef Czubaszewski was born in Olszowka (if you check the writing on the shipsmanifest the letter z used to be written in an elongated style). Humin was mistakenly written as the area that Josef came from as the writter of the ships manifest should have written Konin.

If you or any relatives are interested in contacting the Czubaszewski family in Poland please let me know as it would be simple enough to send you a link to the Czubaszewski family tree on MyHeritage. My email address is js1rainbowmalpagazeta.pl - just the replace the word malpa in the email address with the at sign. By writing my eamil address the way I have above I'm tryng to avoid getting a load of spam.
