Yikes - very hard to read. Jo, do you mean "Mors sogn" (rather than Nors)?

This is where I got that birth place of Norge (posted this earlier), but now I see it is father's stednavn (place name). Oops: http://www.ddd.dda.dk/kiip/asp/alle_opl.asp?kipnr=K0137&...

Who were Niels Peter Andersen's parents and where was he born? I thought I saw a naturalization record for Knud Andersen ca 1941 in Chicago (on Ancestry) but it later eluded me and then I've been doing other things. As for Agnes, are you interested, mackenzie, in her ancestry? The 1936 travel document says she was born in Westburn, Wisconsin - any thoughts on that? It didn't pop up on a quick google search. Maybe Washburn?

Good morning!

Okay - on the 1936 travel document it is noted that Agnes was born 12 April 1908 in Westburn, Wisconsin. If that town is actually Washburn, that's in Bayfield County.

Can't check out the following thoroughly at the moment but put this in a shoebox for later:

1910
Bayfield County, Wisconsin
Joseph Zukowski 30
Mary Zukowski 27
Frances Zukowski age 4
Agnes Zukowski age 2
Cecilia Zukowski age 0

1940
Bayfield, Bayfield, Wisconsin
Joseph Zukowski 62
Mary Zukowski 57
John Zukowski 24
Victoria Zukowski 19

per Wisconsin genealogy index, Joseph Zukowski married Mary A Mosiniak in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, on 06 June 1905.

One family tree online says
"Joseph Zukowski (1882 - 1948) was born in Russian, Poland on 07 Mar 1882 to Peter Zukowski and Rosalia Kievkle. Joseph married Mary Anna Mosiniak and had 7 children. He passed away on 30 Jun 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, USA."

Same family tree says
"Mary Anna Mosiniak (1882 - 1941)was born in Prussian, Poland on 13 Aug 1882 to Stanislaw Mosiniak and Josepha Josefiak. Mary Anna married Joseph Zukowski and had 7 children. She passed away on 30 Apr 1941 in Washburn, Wisconsin, USA."

So that's an interesting combination of several elements: a name similar to Zerkowski, and "Agnes born about 1908" and "Washburn, Wisconsin" and "Chicago, Illinois."

Another great find!

There are actually several family trees on Ancestry for Agnes Zukowski Andersen. According to those trees she married twice more. Her last husband being Ignatius Resch.

Kenzie, if it were my ancestor I'd contact a couple of the tree owners and say hello to some probable cousins as well as ask them what documentation they may have. (I 'met' several cousins of various degrees while searching my own family and found that different branches had much of the same info and each had some that the others didn't. Had a lot of fun swapping pictures and family stories, some old family recipes too.) If they don't respond, you haven't lost anything but a few minutes time. And if they do you may find a wealth of information as well as some 'new' family.

Jo

Almost forgot - her birth and death dates from the SS death index

Name: Agnes Resch
Birth: 4 Jan 1908
Death: 2 Apr 1988 - Daleville, Botetourt, Virginia, United States of America

The birth date for the Agnes on the family tree is different from the birth date for the Agnes on the1936 travel document, but the family tree DOB has no source. Would be good to ask a family member about that - in your family, or the family tree creator - just to double check that we have the right Agnes here.

A GENEALOGY POST dated 2002:
Washburn is where my Grandfather's brother lived, had family, died and is buried. His family then changed their name to Miller and moved to Wash. His name was Michael, his wife's name Michelina. My Grandfather was Lawrence and lived in Winona, Minn. Is anyone still around that knows anything about the Mosiniak family there in Washburn?

An online family tree shows a Michael Mosiniak married to a Mikaline Valichiniak and living in Washburn, Wisconsin. Washburn is a quite small town - seems highly probable this Michael Mosiniak family is related to your Mosiniaks. :D

Another genealogy post on Ancestry.com, dated 1998: Message Boards > Localities > Central Europe > Poland > Former Provinces [1975-1998] > Poznan > MOSINIAK, JOSEFIAK

"Searching for links to Mosiniak and Josefiak surname researchers in Poznan. Stanislaw Mosiniak married Josefa Josefiak about 1880 in Radzweo and came to the US 1882-1886.
Stanislaw was born in Radzeweo to Casmier Mosiniak and Maryanna Albo. Josefa and her sister Jadwiga were born about 1850 to Thomas Josefiak and Maryanna Homa."

!!

The following excerpt mentions two brothers for Stenz Mosiniak (1852-1935). This is a from an online family tree that is extensively documented with sources: "Jacob Mosiniak, son of Casimir Mosiniak and Marianna Alba, was born 03 July 1855 in Radzewo, Srem, Poznan, Poland [Source: Ksiegi metrykalne, 1636-1920, Kosciol rzymsko-katolicki, Parafja Bnin (Srem), Akta urodzen 1855-1873, microfilm 1169513, Family History Center Library, Baptism record for Jacob Mosiniak (1855), number 69]. Jacob died 07 September 1941 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. Jacob's naturalization papers state he immigrated about February 1882 to New York. He married Victoria Tobol~a, daughter of Stanislaus "Stanz" Tobol~a. Victoria was born 21 December 1855 in Konarskie, Srem, Poznan, Poland and died 06 January 1950 in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. In 1921 Jacob was treasurer for Gnesen Township. (Source: Duluth and St. Louis County Minnesota, Volume II, ed. Walter Van Brunt, American Historical Society, New York, 1921, page 689.) Jacob's younger brother, Bartlomiej, married Victoria's niece, Marianna Tobol~a."

Back with an edit and more - so many cousins researching these (presumably) related Mosiniak families! from Ancestry message boards > Wisconsin > Counties > Bayfield > "Kuno, Waegerle and Zinski":

"My great great grandfather Michael Mosiniak of Washburn, Wisconsin had five daughters, including; Josepha, Anges, Martha,Veronica & Stella. In the following excerpt from his obituary only 4 of the daughters are mentioned. 'Four daughters also survive: Mrs. Joe Vinski [= Zinski/"Stella"], of this city; Mrs. Stans Vinski of Moosejaw, Canada; Mrs. George Waegerle [=Veronica], of Hillsbobo [=Hillsboro] Wis., and Mrs. Fred Kuno [=Agnes] of Tacoma, Wash."

[Added note: Martha Mosiniak married Joseph Fruergywski in Bayfield County 14 May 1906]
