Mariam Azarian was born in Silvas . She was last seen at the age of 13 when she was separated from her mother as they were held captive.

Her family later saw her picture in the Chicago Tribune in 1922 as having been released from captivity and labeled a slave girl. Her picture is in the German Holocust Museum and in a book titled the "cross and the crescent" written by Lindy Avakian. Sadly her mother died with out finding her. Any suggestions for locating information would be greatly appreciated.

My Aunt fled to Paris France, when she escaped from Armenia. She was from Yerevan and her last name was Azarian. She was an incredible clothing designer, as she never used a pattern and her designs were trending and fit the person she made it for like a glove. Sorry for the rambling but I think we are probably related.I will do a little more research and then I'll get back to you.

I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but I just found amongst my inlaws' papers a check for three pounds sterling, drawn on Highland Park State Bank in Highland Park, MI to Mrs. Moushguinaz Assarian in Aleppo, Syria. Dated 5 Nov 1919. I was trying to figure out the connection between the check and the Glorian/Kachmanian part of my tree.
