Hi Brian, Thanks for responding to my message. I did find a reference to this David Paton (Jr. only for purposes of identification) on Ancestry.com. I found a note in my files, but I think I discounted it because of the date discrepancy. I have a copy of his Death Certificate which lists his birth as 17 July 1829, but that might be his recollection or on some document he had that is now lost to us. There is no specific location so I don't know if it was Blackford, Perthshire but it does say Perthshire.. We don't have any family records that list his mother's name. I have some notes that were made by his daughter, Alice Paton (1868 -1960) who was my great grandmother. I also have one letter written to him by his father, David Paton (Sr.) on Dec 30, 1858 from Paterson , New Jersey. In that letter, David Sr. mentions that he is keeping house "as best he can" (leading me to believe he was by that time a widower). His daughter Janet or Janette was living next door. Her last name may have been Cooper. He mentions a son Alex who was living in New York with his family, a daughter, Jean and her husband Thomas, a son James who was living in Rockport, a daughter Christy (I suppose the Christian you found could be her). He also mentions another daughter, Margaret who may have a husband or son named Thomas. We believe Christy married a Charlie (?) Boothe, had 2 sons and moved to San Francisco or Oakland, CA. There may have been a son, William. This is pretty much all I have to go on now since those who might have known more are deceased. How I wish I had asked Great Grammie Alice more questions. Are you researching this family? Do you have more info on Margaret Faicheny? I didn't see her on any Ancestry Family Trees. Any small clues or help would be deeply appreciated. My email address is
jcollier1946@yahoo.com. I am going to be in Scotland (Stirling and Edinburgh) in August and would love to know more about my family when I go. Thank you in advance for sharing anything info. I have registered for Scotland's People but using it seems confusing and expensive.
